FOLKE RYDEN was born in 1958 in Uppsala, Sweden. With an MA in journalism from the University of Stockholm, Folke Rydén began working for Swedish national television in 1982.
In 1989 he became the US Correspondent for SVT, based in Washington. In 1996 he moved to Hong Kong.
Folke Ryden has won numerous international awards and his documentaries have been shown all over the world. In 1993, he was awarded the Bonnier Grand Prize in journalism – the most prestigious journalism award in Sweden.
Today Folke Rydén is living and working in Sweden where he has his own production company, Folke Rydén Production, FRP AB.
Folke Rydén and FRP are behind more than 10 international prize winning documentaries both observational and current affairs. They have been sold to some 30 markets, including BBC, ARD, ZDF, TF1, Discovery, The Learning Channel, CBC, NHK, SBS, YLE, DR, NRK and others, including: UNITED STATES OF GUNS (1993); LAREDO & THE LAW (1999); THE GOLDRUSH (2000); THE OLIVEBRANCH & THE GUN (2002); THE BOY WITH NO FACE (2003); THE LAST SURVIVOR (2004); THE TSUNAMI GENERATION (2005)

FRP was founded in 1995 by Folke Rydén as an independent production company specialized in producing documentaries for the domestic and international market.
As one of Sweden’s leading documentary and non-fiction programme production companies, FRP produces films in current affairs, social issues, human rights issues, history, politics, since, culture and sports.
FRP is committed to imaginative, entertaining and insightful programming. The company is currently involved in documentaries, cinema releases and television series.
Productions have been aired by more than 40 broadcasters, shown in over 30 countries and have garnered dozens of international awards. The company is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
FRP objective is also, on a non-profit basis, to support young and creative ideas and talent through offering technical assistance, facilities and by acting as the executive producer for a range of different documentary projects.
